A good vegetable recipe should always feature a good base of complex carbohydrates. There are a multitude of low-carb and high-fat vegetable dishes out there but few that taste completely satisfying if you’re on a diet. Here are a few of my personal favorites as well as some ideas for new vegetarian recipes that hit the spot this season.
Vegetarian Recipes With Detox Benefits
One of the most impressive plant-based appetizers I’ve ever had was this spicy Thai chicken with sweet and sour sauce. The spicy Thai chicken had cashews, tofu, onion, carrots, bell pepper and tomatoes all layered in a mildly spicy tomato-red sauce with an assortment of vegetables.
A good side dish would be sliced radishes and red onions with this delicious chicken. Easy vegetarian recipes like this one are the perfect meal prep idea for those on diets or who are watching their fat intake at the same time.
An absolutely delicious and healthy vegetarian dinner recipe is the popular French dip called La Terre Faviere Indian Cuisine. This dish uses mayonnaise, chopped tomatoes, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, black olives, and green onions as the main ingredients. You can add dried oregano and fresh chopped parsley as well, depending on personal preference.
This tasty dish can be topped with whatever you want; a wedge of Red Onion, shredded carrots, sliced Red Peas, baked or fried mushrooms, baby carrots, and of course a slice of La Terre Faviere cheese. This is one of my favorite healthy vegetarian meals because it uses so many delicious vegetables to enhance the flavor of the cheese and is easy to make.
A rather heavy and meaty main dish would be the Canadian bacon-walnut soup called Belly-Up. This soup features lean ground beef, nutritional yeast, carrots and fresh ginger with a walnut flavoring. Another very interesting aspect of this soup is that you only need about a half cup of the walnuts to make it – making it a very healthy, low-calorie and cholesterol-friendly meal. It can be served as a side dish with your main dish or on its own. If you serve it with the chicken, simply brown the chicken and drain off the solids before serving.
Gluten free Vegetarian Recipes abounds on the Internet. A quick search on your favorite search engine and you will be overwhelmed by the number of possibilities. One of the easiest and most flavor-packed recipes is the gluten free spaghetti which is made from chickpea flour, lemon juice, tomato sauce, and pesto. Just adjust the amounts of tomato sauce, pesto, basil, olive oil, etc. until you have created the perfect spaghetti for your family.
For dessert, you can’t go wrong with an apple and cream cheesecake. This delicious recipe makes use of apples that are freshly picked, cubed, sliced, and placed in a blender. Once you blend the apples, milk, cream, maple syrup, and chocolate, you have an amazing dessert that is both gluten-free and easily vegan. It is so good that I actually made it a part of my lunch the day we first started going to our local farmer’s market.
